ABOUT
Basics
I’m a Dora-nominated actor, improviser and educator based in Tkaronto (Toronto). You can find me on stage or screen playing everything from a desperate woman hilariously plotting to steal a kidney to an epic Viking warrior queen. Collaborative work is where I thrive, and I am passionate about art that engages audience members in new and different experiences, both to provoke thoughtful discussion and to provide a delightful escape. I am very enthusiastic about sharing art with young people, and I have spent time over the past four years using my silliness and heart to teach in various capacities.
Training
I am a graduate from Sheridan College and University of Toronto Mississauga’s joint acting program. I went on to advance my camera training with the wonderful Andrea Runge at ProActors Lab. I also trained in stage combat at Rapier Wit, earning my Basic Actor Combatant from Fight Directors Canada. This was a natural step for me, as I already had a black belt in Shorin Ryu karate. This allows me to take my self-defence skills and use them for art, something I find so exciting. Currently I've been finding joy through improv. I completed levels 1-5 with Second City, and I am excited to keep on learning.
Backstory
My plan in my final year of high school was to pursue a degree in cognitive neuroscience. If you look at my resume, you can see I did no such thing. I had the most incredible teacher and guidance counsellor who saw my potential and my love for acting, and pushed me towards it. He told me to just audition for acting programs in addition to applying to science ones. He said if I didn’t get in, no harm done, and if I did, then I had a choice to make. Well, I got in and I made the choice to go, and I have never regretted it. I found something that I didn’t just like and find interesting, I found something I love and that fills me with joy.
What Else Do I Do?
Outside of acting and teaching, I'm an active person who loves to be outdoors. I’m overly passionate about board games. I enjoy cooking, which I do all the time, and I say I love baking, yet rarely do it. I also make an absolutely killer pros and cons list (considering offering it as a paid service – call me).
